Implante Dentare

Dental implants: phases and advantages

Dental implants are a modern dental technology used to provide patients with full chewing ability and a new smile. A natural tooth consists of two parts: the crown , the visible part, and the root of the tooth embedded in the bone of the upper or lower jaw. A dental implant is an artificial root inserted into the jawbone or mandibular bone, replacing the root of a tooth. They are generally made of titanium or titanium alloy, biocompatible materials that reduce inflammation and allergies in the mouth, integrate seamlessly with the bone, and resist chewing pressure.

What is a dental implant made of?

The dental implant is made up of 3 parts:

1. Artificial roots or screws: An implant is a screw inserted into the jawbone to replace a missing natural tooth root. The length can vary depending on the patient's anatomical needs. It can be made of titanium or zirconium.

2. Support structure: The element that connects the implant to the dental crown. One part sits within the gum and the other acts as a pivot to hold the crown in place.

3. Ceramic dental crowns are identical to natural teeth, so there are no aesthetic differences.

The phases of dental implantology

How are dental implants placed? Here are the steps we take to restore a smile to patients with dental implants:

Diagnosis: During your first free consultation, our staff will perform a thorough diagnosis and instrumental examination to ensure a personalized treatment plan that meets your aesthetic and functional expectations based on your actual clinical needs.

Surgery: In this second phase, the implant is inserted into the bone. The operation is performed under local anesthesia.

Osseointegration: Dental implants now have to wait several months (3-6 months) to integrate into the bone.

Final stage: once finished, the doctor mounts the superstructure on the implant where the dental crown will be fixed.

Advantages of dental implants

We mentioned that dental implants allow patients to restore both effective chewing function and a natural smile. Choosing dental implants over removable bridges has several advantages:

1. Implants are aesthetically identical to natural teeth.
2. Permanently and securely attached without adhesive.
3. It does not create problems with adjacent natural teeth.
4. This is a very long-lasting solution if you practice proper oral hygiene on a daily basis.
5. High success rate: A 98% success rate is guaranteed, with over 12,000 implant procedures performed since 2009 (in the event of implant rejection, further surgeries are performed free of charge and travel expenses are covered).
6. Stability: no chewing problems and no risk of artificial teeth shifting.
